New Wii Metroid Game
So Nintendo dumped a whole bunch of movies on the Nintendo channel this week, all 12 pages are new videos… it’s going to take me a while to get through them. However, there is one video that really surprised and excited me. Enough that I think I’ve watched it at least a half-dozen times already, and will probably watch more. What has me so excited? The new Metroid game for the Wii, due in 2010, entitled Metroid: Other M.
First things first, if you haven’t watched the trailer already, do so! It’s embedded below from Youtube.
Now that you’ve seen the trailer…. holy…. wow… when the video started and I saw that stormy sea, I immediately recognized the signature Team Ninja opening… I was stunned and excited from just that revelation alone. Then came the footage… it looks beautiful! Words truly cannot express how excited I am. ^^ Those who have played Metroid Fusion will recognize the classic, “Any objections, lady?” line.
Unlike the Prime series, which was almost entirely first-person (except for in morph ball form), Other M looks to mix first and third person perspectives. Not only that, but for the first time, Samus actually speaks. Other characters had voice acting in Metroid Prime 3, but this will be the first time Samus will have lines.
Hopefully Nintendo won’t leave us hanging for long with just this trailer. It looks like this game is delving further into the Metroid backstory, fleshing it out. I hope we get to hear more soon, like more details on how the game plays, powerups, etc. n.n
