New ai sp@ce minigame too popular?
Update: It seems that the shooting game has been temporarily taken offline. After the server came back up from maintenance, the woman you have to speak to in order to warp to the shooting game lobby is gone.
So, I logged on to ai sp@ce today after the weekely maintenance and managed to get a round of the new watergun shooting game in. I didn’t manage to get any screenshots, but it was fun. ^^ A review with screenshots will be forthcoming, but not until after they fix the server issues they’re having.
After my one round, my client started acting funny, and eventually dropped me back to the login screen. When I logged back in, my charadoll was there for a few seconds, then disappeared, and I had to go out of the lobby (into the UDX building main lobby) to get her to re-appear. However, she disappeared again when I tried to re-enter the shooting game lobby.
A couple more disconnects later, I managed to get back to the shooting game lobby with my charadoll, but again, she disappeared. Then came across a message from management about 10:30 PM local time.

I also noticed a few comments from the Japanese players about the time the maintenance message showed up. I believe one of them said something to the effect of, “Are we overloading the server? lol”
It seems that they perhaps underestimated the server load that would be caused by this new game content. Which isn’t all that suprising, considering how fun it is, and that it’s the first real minigame inside ai sp@ce. Hopefully the emergency maintenance will resolve the server issues, and I can get a review posted soon.
When the server came back up, however, the NPC you have to talk to in order to warp to the watergun shooting game lobby was gone. Seems there were indeed some issues with the watergun shooting game, as it’s been disabled for now. I was unable to find any sort of notification on ai sp@ce’s website as of this writing that would indicate when it would be coming back.
Update 2: After some more digging, I found out that they have decided to institute a restricted schedule on the testing of the shooting game. It’s only going to be available for testing from 5 PM to 11 PM this Tuesday, through Thursday. The rest of the testing days through the 20th don’t seem to have any such restrictions planned.
