Haruhi Movie Announced

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Face shot of Nagato from trailerSo, I was up late last night watching new anime, and happened to stumble across an episode of Haruhi. After the episode was a short trailer announcing 「涼宮ハルヒの消失」, or “The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya.” Apparently this arc will be shown in the form of a movie. It looks to be released in spring of 2010. Youtube trailer after the jump.

Sailor Mary Sue

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

Sailor Mary Sue by Drachea Rannak Okay, I just had to post this one. Drachea Rannak is an artist I recently stumbled upon who does superb art, and has a large series of non-canon Senshi he’s drawn, mostly crossovers (characters from other media as senshi), which can be quite amusing and cute. ^_^

This one pokes fun at the Mary Sue concept, which apparently has been talked about alot lately. (I was just in a discussion about it the other night on IRC, for instance.) For those who don’t feel like clicking on the Wikipedia link, a Mary Sue character is one that is over idealized and lacks any sort of significant character flaws that would make them interesting.

You can see a larger-sized version of the image on deviantART.

Kobato episode 1

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

KobatoSo, I just finished watching the first episode of the new CLAMP manga-based anime series, Kobato.
In short, it’s very cute. ;) The titular character is a cute girl with long brown hair. I didn’t understand enough to know exactly why she’s there, but I think it has something to do with trying to make people happy. Spoilers/episode synopsis after the jump.

Translation of this information post starts after the jump.
